East Brunswick NJ Moth Night FRIDAY!

Hey NJ Moth-ers! The Friends of the East Brunswick Environmental Commission will hold its first Moth Night of the season this Friday, June 21. This is the actual, real-deal birthplace of NMW, so if you’re in the area, stop by for a night of mothing with us, the NMW team.

The event will be at East Brunswick Community Park, also known as Dallenbach Lake, adjacent to Crystal Springs Aquatic Center on Dunham’s Corner Road, 8:30-11pm (of course, you’re free to leave before 11 if you want).

We will be walking in the woods – wear comfortable shoes and bring a flashlight. White sheets and mercury vapor lights will be set up in the woods and trees brushed with a sweet, fermented moth bait to attract moths for observation. Parents are invited to bring children to learn about moths and their importance to the ecosystem.

AND – if you haven’t seen it already, NMW founder Dave Moskowitz was featured in an article and video on the Huffington Post barbecuing and eating cicadas! You gotta check this out:
